The European Union (EU) is currently accepting proposals from eligible organisations for its programme “European Instrument for Democracy and Human Rights (EIDHR) Country based support scheme (CBSS) for Russia” in order to strengthen the role of civil society in the Russian Federation in order to enhance respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms and to promote democratic dialogue.
Priorities:
• Raising openness, communication and accountability of public bodies, support to effective functioning of democratic and human rights institutes and mechanisms, increasing civic engagement in democratic processes.
• Promotion of tolerance, inter-cultural understanding and social cohesion, promotion of freedom of speech.
• Support to human rights defenders, civil society initiatives and organisations, support to independent media.
The overall indicative amount made available under this call for proposals is EUR 6.000.000. Any grant requested must fall between EUR 200.000 and EUR 650.000.
The deadline for submitting applications is March 15, 2017.
