DW: "Turkish PM Erdogan and German Chancellor Merkel hold 'intensive' talks in Berlin"

The official meeting between the Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan and German Chancellor Angela Merkel focused on topics such as: the importance of theTurkish – German bilateral relations in terms of trade and migration policies (there is a large Turkish community in Germany), the possibility of Turkish citizens residing in Germany to vote in local elections, as well as a potential support for Turkey’s accession to the EU.

However, discussions about the scandals revolving around the Turkish government, such as the harsh police crackdowns on protesters and the recent justice reform have been virtually inexistent.
